Why do you love shooting weddings?
It’s you and your loved ones, your favourite people gathered to celebrate this big and beautiful commitment you’re making! No two weddings are the same but they are always filled with raw unfiltered human connection and moments you'll never want to forget. It’s the emotion for us and the thrill of capturing something fleeting. We get to create art, partake in an amazing celebration and meet new people along the way. We really enjoy getting to know each couple and highlighting what makes you “you” through our images. There is something so satisfying about capturing a moment that you know someone will hold dear for years to come.
Do you travel?
Most certainly! We love to travel. We’ve been fortunate to have shot weddings in Italy, South Africa and all over our beautiful province of British Columbia! Some of our favourite places in BC. include the Okanagan, Tofino, the Gulf Islands and Vancouver Island. Our dream locations internationally would include Colombia (where Silas grew up), London, Barcelona, San Miguel De Allende, Sydney, Edinburgh and we would go back to Florence in a heartbeat! Feel free to send us more specific information on your location for more in-depth travel costs. We love exploring new places!
When can we expect to see our wedding photos?
Anywhere between 8 and 18 weeks depending on what season your wedding is in. A day or two after the wedding or session we will send along a preview gallery. We know it’s exciting to catch that first glimpse of your day and to beat Aunt Martha to the punch with posting to social media! Keep an eye out on Instagram for sneak peeks too!
Who chooses our wedding portrait locations?
For engagement and couples sessions we’ll work with you on selecting the locations because we want to take advantage of the freedom we have! Unlike the wedding day when we have timeline constraints, the world is your oyster! We believe these locations should reflect you! Maybe it’s your favourite date spot, maybe the neighbourhood you frequent or somewhere that holds significance.
For weddings, we do! We location scout for all of our weddings with the specific details of your day in mind. Timeline, weather and light all play a factor and although we are open to considering suggestions we ultimately pick the perfect places for your portrait time. We always base these locations on the type of location you desire whether that’s city, forest, beach etc. If you have a specific request we will look into it and see if we can make it work!
HOW WILL WE RECEIVE OUR IMAGES?
We deliver all of our work via online gallery. The images are high resolution and available for you to download, make favourites lists, share and order any of the professional products and prints we offer.
What is the benefit of an engagement session?
Engagement sessions are a great way for us to get better acquainted before your big day! It's nice to not start out as a couple of strangers following you around with 4 cameras on your wedding day. You can get used to being in front of the camera and we can see how best to bring out the most natural version of you. They are a great way to celebrate and capture the way you are together without the location and time constraints of a wedding. Consider it a time capsule for this exciting season in your relationship!
Do you shoot every wedding together?
YES! Unless we say otherwise or there is an extenuating circumstance, you will always have the two of us at your wedding. We really enjoy shooting as a team!
Can we have the RAW files?
We do not share any RAW images no matter the circumstance. Images straight out of camera are not finished works. They do not fully reflect our style and artistry until we have edited them.
Do you shoot LGBTQ+ couples?
100% we are here to document love.
Do you shoot Family or Maternity?
Danaea does! She has been documenting families for over 10 years and you can find her family photography business here - danaeagodard.com. She would love to hear from you!
Do you mentor?
Yes! Between Nov and April we offer these. We love to share what we’ve learned over the last decade with photographers of all levels. Send us an email to learn more :) -hello@thegodards.com

Believe it or not we met in person through a friend! Kind of seems old fashioned to say these days. We met at our friend’s wine and cheese night and instantly felt drawn to each other. Danaea was curious about Silas’ age however as he had a full head of grey hair with a baby face. Despite the connection that day we really have social media flirtation to thank for the further advancement of our relationship.
(more of a frequently voiced concern) Don't you even worry about it! Nearly everyone we’ve ever photographed expresses this to us. This is why we offer discounted engagement sessions for all of our wedding couples. It's our chance to get to know each other and for you to feel comfortable. If you are feeling the nerves it's something to consider but not a necessity. We will get you moving, talking and interacting so the images and experience feels natural. We aim to make sure it doesn’t feel like a “photoshoot”. That said, we promise to direct you well and be clear with what we want from you during portraits. Couples are often surprised by how comfortable they felt with us during their portraits/wedding day - for proof of this check out our Google Reviews!
Certainly, We are Junebug Wedding Vendors so you can see a few features here. We were recently in the Spring 2024 edition of Rocky Mountain Bride and in the Winter of 2024 published in the New York Times. We’ve also won a handful of awards over the years. Mostly we spend our time focusing on our couples, business and of course our young family it's not that we don't value submitting for awards but it isn't top of our list.
To many many places. All of our cameras write to two memory cards at once. After our coverage is done at a wedding we leave one card in the camera and put the other card into a card wallet that goes into our pocket. As soon as we get home from your wedding or photo session, no matter how late, all images are uploaded and then immediately backed-up to a second location. There's no messing around with backups! We also have a backup system in place for completed galleries. BUT PLEASE be diligent in saving and backing up your photos once they are in your hands.
A whole lot! That being said we believe in quality over quantity and carefully take time selecting and editing the best images of the day. For a full wedding day ranging from 6-12 hours we deliver between 500 and 1200 images depending on the length of time you had us there shooting. On average 75-100 images per hour.
How do you say your names?
Dah-nay-ah and Sigh-liss

Do you offer wedding albums?
Yes! We believe in printing your images. One of the best ways to do this is with an Heirloom quality album! Wedding albums are a stunning archive that you can leave for future generations to pour over. Plus they are a gorgeous, personal touch on the coffee table to share with family and friends!
